Project Description

This project conserved approximately 47 acres of land by fee simple acquisition, adding to the west side of Bangor Land Trust's Walden-Parke Preserve. The Preserve Addition includes small areas of freshwater forested and scrub-shrub wetland, as well as upland buffer surrounding larger freshwater wetlands. It contains two vernal pools and large portions of the critical terrestrial habitat around several vernal pools located across the line on the existing Preserve. A mapped Deer Wintering Area also overlaps with the site. The project is located within the Caribou Bog Wetland Complex Focus Area of Statewide Ecological Significance.
