Taylor Bait Ponds Restoration

This project will restore an area where a stream was ditched and two ponds dug in order to create fish-rearing ponds for bait. Orono Land Trust will remove water control structures to restore the ponds to a more natural emergent marsh ecosystem relying on the natural hydrologic system and taking advantage of the topographic variation of the pond bottom to create as much diversity as possible, aiming toward a more natural freshwater marsh complex.
