This project conserved approximately 314.8 acres of land by fee simple acquisition. The project area includes over 61 acres of freshwater emergent, scrub-shrub, and forested wetlands, with the balance consisting of upland buffer. It also includes approximately 8,639 linear feet of frontage along Rolfe Brook, which is state-mapped Wild Brook Trout priority habitat. The property contains four vernal pools, including three Significant Vernal Pools, and protects most of their critical terrestrial habitat. LELT also completed a stream and wetland restoration project on the property by removing a snowmobile trail bridge, abutments, and earthen berm, which restored approximately 4,000 square feet of emergent wetland and will enhance adjacent emergent, forested, and scrub-shrub wetlands. LELT will retain and manage the project area for its natural resource values, as well as for timber management in select locations, as described below, and for low-impact recreation.
